Why use a Drop-In Clarifier instead of a Media Filter?

Properly sized media filters are an effective way to remove total suspended solids (TSS) as long as the influent contains less than 50 mg/l TSS.

A common mistake involves trying to use a media filter for solids/liquid separation with higher TSS. Too many solids will clog the media, require excessive backwashing and increase maintenance costs.

UniPure uses media filters as an “operating safeguard” for clients with stringent effluent requirements. A UniPure Clarifier will reduce an influent TSS concentration to less than 10 mg/l. A media filter will capture any carryover from the clarifier, ensure compliance and only backwash once per day.

If your;

  • water has a TSS concentration above 50 mg/l,
  • water has contaminants that will foul the media,
  • schedule can’t afford extended downtime due to backwash cycles or media replacement, then a UniPure Drop-In Clarifier is the better rental option for your project.

Then a UniPure Drop-In Clarifier is the better rental option for your project.
